Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, a dance of two Vert between a fleur-de-lis Azure and two arrowheads Gules, in base a fountain. Attached above and below the shield a Red scroll doubled and inscribed "WE SUPPORT" at the top and "TO THE UPMOST" in base, all in Gold.

Symbolism
The heraldic dance is reminiscent of mountains; the fountain represents water. The fleur-de-lis is emblematic of France. These elements portray the unit's campaign participation in Europe. The unit's two assault landings are indicated by the red arrowheads. The green is in reference to the unit's mission in support of Special Operations.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 14 Jan 1988.
